Places of interest

The town of Homburg gets its name from the Hohenberg Castle which was mentioned for the first time in 1500. In 1528, the town was also referred to as Homburg vor der Höhe. It then became common to refer to the town as Bad Homburg with the introduction of the thermal baths.

Horex motorcycles Museum Bad Homburg vor der Höhe

Display cabinets feature cups that bear witness to the brand's successes on racing tracks, which are also immortalised in photographs and on film. The legendary "Regina" is, of course, featured.

Roman fort Saalburg

Saalburg Roman Fort

The Saalburg was a castle that served as the surveillance point for a Limes section in Taunus during the Roman Age. The first structure on the Saalburg Pass was built in the year 83 BCE. This is the world's only reconstructed Roman castle, which today houses a museum with a comprehensive program for museum education and a wide range of events.

November to February from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except Mondays

Bad Homburg Wine Festival

10th to 12th May 2024

The city becomes a vinicultural village. More than 70 stalls serving quality wines from many wine-growing regions invite you to sample a fine drop or two. Bands and musicians provide wine connoisseurs with accompaniment.

Lantern Festival

30th August to 2nd September 2024

The entire inner city and Old Town are transformed into Hessen's largest and most beloved traditional festival. Houses festooned with lamps and Chinese lanterns, carnival processions, fairgrounds, wine and beer gardens, music and entertainment, greyhound racing, concerts in the Schlosskirche church, closing ceremony and firework display.

Romantic Christmas Market at the Castle

1st to 18th December 2023 (every weekend during Advent)

The "Romantic Christmas Market" is the main attraction of the Bad Homburg Christmas Town. It is held in front of the venerable buildings of the Landgraves' Castle. Around 90 wooden chalets stretch in a row from the Schlossplatz square along Herrengasse to the upper Schlosshof courtyard. The "Romantic Christmas Market" is open Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday&Sunday from 12 midday to 9 p.m.
