Our Dive Sites

More than 21 dive sites are available; Wreck diving, the famous Stella Maru is one of the most common wrecks in the North-West region, dive sites like Coral Garden, Poison Reef and Week End are among the best Reef dives we have to offer. Lost Anchor, Stenopus and Holt Rock offer impressive basaltic rock formation with loads of sea fans. The North-west coast offers warm waters, great visibility and fascinating scenery for a truly super diving experience.

Mauritius is surrounded by a coral reef with a rich marine life – and offers shallow comfortable dive sites for beginners, as well as Wrecks, walls, rock formations and Caverns for the experienced. There are dive sites right around Mauritius, however the best diving is along the North coast due to its consistently good sea and weather conditions.

With over 21 dive sites, within a short boat trip from the Maritim Diving Center alone, there is plenty of choice for beginner and advanced divers.

Here is a small selection of the most common dive sites.

The road with the most curves on the island - 70 according to local sources - winds its way from Grande Case Noyale along the coast to the hilly heights of the Black River Gorges National Park and onto the Plaine Champagne.

more

At 127 metres high (around 400 ft), the waterfall of Chamarel is the island's highest waterfall. The St. Denis river flows over the edge and into a jungle basin - a truly magnificent natural spectacle. The Seven Coloured Earths is another. Depending on the light, the ground can be ochre or yellow, red, brown and even shades of blue and purple. Scientists say the phenomenon traces its roots back the volcanic source of the earth and the lava/mineral content within.

The best time to visit Seven Coloured Earths is in the morning on a sunny day.
